We provide on-site services for compliance auditing and certification to satisfy standards in Western Australia, the Northern Territory and Queensland, covering all industrial Radiation Places and Radiation Sources.

Our Radiation Protection Advisors (RPA) are accredited and licensed to conduct Compliance Auditing and issue Certificates of Compliance in the Northern Territory and Queensland. In Western Australia, Certificates of Compliance are issued by the Radiological Council based on our RPAs’ site audit reports.

Whilst on-site, Radiation Services WA representatives can provide advice concerning risk assessment, installation and commissioning, and provision of radiation survey meters and personal dosimeters.

Certificates of Compliance

We are able to issue Certificates of Compliance for all industrial Radiation Places and Radiation Sources including:

  • Fixed Radiation Gauges

  • Portable Density/Moisture Gauges

  • X-ray Analysis equipment

  • Portable XRF

  • Industrial Radiography (NDT) equipment

  • Borehole/Wireline Logging

  • Pigging Isotope Operations

  • Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM)

Site Compliance Auditing

Site Compliance Auditing typically has two (2) broad auditing components, being an audit of the individual radiation devices and then the radiation management systems surrounding the use of these devices.

Broadly speaking, Radiation Services WA assess the following as part of a site compliance audit

  • Licensing and Registration requirements

  • Accuracy of information furnished to the relevant regulator

  • Radiation Management Plan (including Emergency Procedures) – minor review only

  • Accuracy of inventory and device movement log

  • Records and currency of: wipe (contamination) tests; gauge audits and shutter checks

  • Survey meter checks; personal radiation monitoring; and gauge repairs and maintenance

  • Site radiation store

  • Site survey meters and personal radiation monitoring

  • Annual Reports

  • Special form certification – sources not beyond recommended working life

Desktop Compliance Auditing – Fixed Gauges

This new service is an innovative solution developed in consultation with the regulator during the restrictions imposed on travel due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It allows companies to empower field managers and suitably qualified personnel to work with RSWA to ensure that their compliance obligations are met in a timely and efficient manner. It will also mean that there may not be a requirement for an RSWA Radiation Protection Adviser to attend the site physically, but still enable delivery of similar outcomes of an actual site audit.
