This course is aimed at personnel who are supervising the use of Portable (XRF) and X-ray Analysis (XRA) equipment (including Ore Sorting), on behalf of their organisation. It does not permit the repair or maintenance of equipment or allow personnel to perform alignment procedures where safety interlocks are to be defeated. This course provides course participants with the skill and knowledge requirements for the radiation management of XRA and XRF equipment including aspects such as: auditing and compliance; radiation monitoring; legislative compliance; and incident response.
About this course
It is a requirement under the Radiation Safety Act 1975 that the use of X-ray Analysis or Portable XRF apparatus is performed under the supervision of a competent and licensed person. This course is aligned with the NHMRC (ARPANSA) Code of Practice for the Safe Use of X-ray Analysis Equipment.

There are multiple practical exercises and activities throughout the course and theoretical understanding is assessed against Radiological Council requirements
Certification
A Statement of Attainment is issued upon successful completion of this course. This course is recognised as a pre-requisite for licensing in all Australian States & Territories.
