Meet Rod Shepheard, Project Manager.  Rod has worked for RSWA for just a few months and is fitting into our team nicely.

What does your job entail?

I work from the office or remotely in concert with other members of the team to oversee all aspects of RSWA projects to ensure effective coordination and completion on time and within budget.  I work on multiple platforms setting deadlines and responsibilities, monitoring, and reporting on progress, sometimes preparing reports for the Operations Manager.  This involves working as part of the RSWA team and directly with clients.

How did you get started in the industry?

My background is with Logistic and Transport Management, Operations and Site Management.  I was after a change of direction which would fit in with some lifestyle changes which involved flexible working arrangements.  This opportunity arose and it was a good chance to learn aspects of the industry and learn new skills but also use knowledge gained through previous employment.

What have you gained from working at RSWA?

I have always worked in large corporations in Defence, on offshore platforms and in the Transport Industry with stringent processes and guidelines for determined outcomes.  These have been large corporations and the skills transfer well with this industry.  RSWA has given me the opportunity to work within a smaller team which is enjoyable but challenging as we multitask more but share information more efficiently.  It is a more defined team and working like this allows me to learn more about the industry.

What’s been the most interesting project you have worked on?

So far, the planning for removal and disposal of a large protective door and surround which gave access to a Cyclotron Machine in a large hospital was most interesting.  The door required cranage from its fixed position and it gave me insight into how the Advisor would test for radioactivity and the course of action we would need to take dependant of the test results.  It is always good to further my knowledge for future projects.
