Radiation Awareness (6 Aug)
August 6 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm AWST| $450
This introductory level course is aimed at personnel who are working with radiation sources in their workplace, including x-ray devices, sealed sources, or naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM). Attendees are normally working around radiation sources, under the supervision of an existing radiation licensee and an established radiation management framework.
This course informs course participants about the foundation principles for working near radioactive material and radiation, whilst avoiding in-depth maths & physics concepts.
This course provides context between various radiation exposures, such as background radiation; typical workplace doses; and a perspective against high doses that may be harmful.
About this course
It is a requirement under Occupational Health and Safety, and Radiation Safety legislation that all personnel working with, or near radiation sources are trained to a level that is commensurate to their level of radiation exposure and risk. This course is pitched at an introductory level suitable for personnel who are potentially exposed to radiation in their workplace, but who do not have direct responsibility for the management of the radiation source.
A theoretical understanding of Radiation Awareness is assessed at an introductory level against topics detailed in this course syllabus.
A Statement of Attainment is issued upon successful completion of this course.
