Course Overview

This course is aimed at personnel who are working with and around fixed radiation gauges.  This course provides training on the safety features of fixed radiation gauges, and the radiation management systems under which they are used.  This course provides participants with the underpinning knowledge for isolation of fixed radiation gauges and informs them of radiation risks in perspective to allow them to work competently around radiation devices.

About this course

It is a requirement under the Radiation Safety Act 1975 that the use of Fixed Radiation Gauges is performed under the supervision of a competent and licensed person. This course is aligned with the ARPANSA Code of Practice for the Safe Use of Fixed Radiation Gauges.

An introductory level of mathematical understanding is required to successfully complete this course

Assessment

There are multiple practical exercises and activities throughout the course and theoretical understanding is assessed with a short-written exam.

A Statement of Attainment is issued upon successful completion of this course.
